GO GO BLOWFISH...

YEY! I finished this painting!! WOOHOOOO!
It's #2 in a series of 3 paintings of "The Adventures of Agent Rooz"(working title).
This is a glimpse into his world of gadgets and explorations.
Where his travels lead him to various places on this planet in search of his own kind.
I'm still working on the story and hope to have him animated one day.
I have development work for it, but decided to paint these pieces for fun!

So this painting is called "GO GO BLOWFISH" and was painted with acrylic on a wood circle. It's approximately 12" in diameter and about 1" thick. It has a stained wood trim and is varnished in poly-urethane clear.
I have to admit, this one took me awhile, because I would do it in pieces. I worked on the bg color, stopped, worked on the foreground rocks, stopped, painted the blowfish POD, stopped, painted Rooz, well, you get the picture. When I finally finished it up, it took a week to varnish it! Anyways, it was a bit weird to work this way, but that's what happens when your working full time at a creative job and you come home and make your self think creatively again. Whew! Takes it out of you. I must have went through 20 different designs for this. The sketches show some process, but I can't really post them all. heheee...
The last one in this series is in the works already. It has the base color and sketch on the wood piece all ready to paint. When I have a chance of course! wink wink...:)

SO, in the meantime, I have been working at Nickelodeon on a new show called "EL Tigre". I have been on this show since June as a Background Color/Paint Artist. I think it's great! I worked on the pilot as a Supervising Character Ink/Designer, but I'm happy I'm doing backgrounds. It's very similar to painting and that makes me happy. Maybe some day I can show some of the work I've done....someday..when it's legal. ;) Thanks for visiting and reading my thoughts. Come again!

That's a sweet painting. I like painting on unusual grounds too but I've never painted a circle before :)

I like the concept of "Go Go Blowfish" submarine. Interesting!

Terrific as always, Dee! Thanks for sharing some of your development sketches too.

I know what you mean about being tired after a long day at work: my drawings' biggest enemy!
